9) Mr Squiggle Exhibition

This weekend is your last chance to check out the Mr Squiggle exhibition! It includes children’s letters to Mr Squiggle, script books, original artwork and a portrait loaned from the National Portrait Gallery ‘Norman Hetherington OAM (and friends)’. The exhibition also showcases one of the most loved and longest running Australian children’s programs, honouring Norman Hetherington, the brilliant man behind the iconic puppets and television series.

8) Hart.R8 for Hartley

Cheer on locals sweating it out for the Hart.R8 for Hartley cycle challenges at gyms across Canberra! It’s to help raise vital funds to support people with complex and physical disabilities in our local community. Money raised will go towards the knock down and rebuild of the Hartley Court facility. 7) DinotraX – A Dinosaur Adventure

Become an intrepid explorer and step back in time on a dinosaur adventure trail! This weekend is your last chance to experience this rare opportunity to encounter dinosaurs and plant fossils among the landscapes they once inhabited. Dinosaur herds, ancient petrified wood, living fossil plants and flying winged creatures are on display in the Gardens. Continue on the trail to the Dinosaur Museum to discover the largest permanent display of dinosaur and prehistoric fossils in Australia.

6) Santa Speedo Shuffle

Hundreds of brave Canberrans will run around Lake Burley Griffin in their speedos to raise money for those living with Cystic Fibrosis. All Canberrans are encouraged to donate, participate or come down on Sunday morning to witness the spectacle.

5) Ultimate Women’s Weekend Expo

This Expo is all about empowering women, giving them a chance to take some time for themselves, while supporting local businesses. It showcases 40-130 small to medium sized businesses from a huge range of industries including mind, body, spirit, craft, skincare, makeup, health, fitness, fashion, home, children and more.

4) RSPCA ACT’s Cupcake Day Launch

Hundreds of cupcakes will be up for grabs at South.Point in Tuggeranong, to launch RSPCA ACT’S Cupcake Day! It’s their biggest fundraiser – raising money for animals in need. Officially taking place on August 19, people are encouraged to host an event any time during the month! There’ll be loads of sweet treats and heaps of fun activities for the kids like face painting, cookie decorating and a jumping castle.

3) Rugby League the Musical

Australia’s hardest working sports satirist – Denis Carnahan – is back, bigger than ever, trying to cope with the mountain of material Rugby League has thrown at him! 2) JZK’S Conservation Celebration

1) Namadgi Open Day

ACT Parks and Conservation are inviting everyone to venture across the Murrumbidgee River and visit Namadgi National Park for their big Open Day! Learn from the rangers, take a tour or a photo with the cheeky Gang Gang mascots. There’ll be a BBQ run by the Lions Club, raising money for the Thin Green Line Foundation, which helps support Park Rangers around the world.
